FULLERTON, Calif. – Sophomores Madeline Schneider and Shimen Fayad combined for 37 kills as the Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball team outlasted Colgate, 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 27-25, 12-25, 15-13), in the final match of the Quality Inn Placentia Fullerton Classic at Titan Gym on Saturday night.

Schneider registered a match-high 19 kills to go along with 10 digs to record her fourth double-double of the season, while Fayad added 18 strikes to go along with 20 digs for her seventh double-double of 2016.

Freshman Rachel Hall delivered a match-high 41 assists while fellow rookie Madisen Babich found her way to 26 digs.

As a team, the Titans (5-6) were held to a .151 hitting percentage compared to Colgate's (4-4) clip of .208 while the Raiders also out blocked the Titans 11.5-8.

Kathleen Harris led Colgate with 15 kills and 18 digs while Katie Stansbury added 13 strikes.

The matched featured 18 lead changes and 42 tie scores as the teams went into the break knotted at 1-1. Fullerton won the third set 27-25 after back-to-back attacking errors from Colgate, but the Raiders pushed the score to 2-2 with a commanding 25-12 fourth-set win as Colgate hit .500 and the Titans were held to a .037 attacking percentage.

In the fifth and final set, Fullerton jumped out to a 10-5 lead before Colgate closed within one trailing 11-10. Fullerton freshman Megan Carlson produced three straight kills before Hall hammered home match point for the win.

Fullerton sophomore Summer Kerins was named to the Quality Inn Placentia Fullerton Classic All-Tournament Team.

The Titans return to action at the SDSU/USD California Mixer against San Jose State on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Notes: Cal State Fullerton had not won a five-set match since a 3-2 victory over Georgetown on Sept. 20, 2014 at the Fullerton Classic.
