Moreland’s Double-Double Leads Titans to Sweep

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton made it a quick trip to UC Riverside on Saturday night, retiring the Highlanders in three sets to clinch the sweep (25-15, 26-24, 25-20) at SRC Arena.

Senior Bre Moreland produced her fifth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs, while adding two service aces. In addition, sophomore Holland Crenshaw matched Moreland with 10 kills, hitting at a percentage of .625 and adding three blocks.

The Titans (9-7, 2-2) have now won 17 straight matches against UCR (1-15, 0-4 Big West).

Fullerton senior Alyse Hensley added a solid performance of eight kills, nine digs, four blocks and two aces. Freshman McKenna Painton located 21 digs, and junior Julie Consani orchestrated the offense by dishing 35 assists.

Cal State Fullerton attacked at a rate of .235, while holding the Highlanders to an attacking percentage of .181. UCR's Cristina Maietta totaled a match-high 12 kills.

The Titans remain on the road for their next two matches, traveling to Long Beach State on Friday (7 p.m.) and UC Irvine on Saturday (7 p.m.).

Notes: Cal State Fullerton swept its seventh opponent of the season…McKenna Painton recorded her fifth match with 20 digs or more this year…Bre Moreland's 10 kills and 10 digs established her fifth double-double of 2013...the Titans have won their last 17 matches against UCR, leading the all-time series 24-4.
