Fullerton Concludes Showdown with Sweep of Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas. – Cal State Fullerton concluded play at the Lone Star Showdown with a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-18, 25-19) over host Texas Tech at United Spirit Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Alyse Hensley recorded her fifth double-double of the season tallying a match-high 11 kills and 13 digs, while senior Bre Moreland contributed nine kills and a team-leading 17 digs.

Julie Consani led the offense that attacked at a rate of .202 with 31 assists and 14 digs, which marked her third double-double of 2013.

Cal State Fullerton (7-3), completed play at the Lone Star Showdown with a 2-1 record as Moreland and freshman Paige Reed were named to the all-tournament team. Reed totaled 13 digs in Saturday's match.

 Fullerton produced five service aces in the win, as senior Abbie Miraldi was responsible for two while also totaling 10 digs.

Texas Tech (6-7) was held to an attacking percentage of .100.

Montana also completed the tournament with a 2-1 record after falling in five sets to Nevada during Saturday's first match. The Grizzlies held the tiebreaker over the Titans to claim the tournament championship after sweeping Fullerton in Friday's match.

Nevada and Texas Tech completed the Lone Star Showdown with 1-2 records, respectively.

Fullerton returns to action at 7 p.m., Friday, traveling to USC to play the current No. 1 team in the nation. The Titans will return to Titan Gym on Sunday, Aug. 22, to host American at 1 p.m.

Notes: Six of Cal State Fullerton's seven wins have been sweeps…Fullerton's 7-3 start is the best for the programs since 2010 (11-3)…Julie Consani's 1,343 career assists rank eighth all-time in program history.
