FULLERTON, Calif. –  Cal State Fullerton proved that there is no place like home on Friday, sweeping both of its matches on the first day of the Fullerton Classic presented by the Holiday Inn of La Mirada at Titan Gym.

Fullerton (3-2) swept its home opener, defeating Kent State (25-20, 25-10, 25-19) on Friday afternoon before holding off William & Mary in three sets (25-16, 25-15, 25-16) during the evening match.

The duo of veteran Bre Moreland and rookie Faith Rockmore propelled Cal State Fullerton to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16) victory over William & Mary on Friday night at Titan Gym.

Rockmore, a freshman playing in her hometown of Fullerton, Calif., totaled a career best 10 kills in 15 attempts, attacking the Tribe (1-4) at a clip of .600. Moreland recorded her second double-digit kill match of the day, also producing 10 kills for the Titans.

The Titans (3-2) hit a season best .347 (48-13-101) as a team, with junior Julie Consani running the offense and distributing 39 assists. Freshman McKenna Painton added 11 digs.

The Titans also totaled nine service aces in the win, with Alyse Hensley leading the club with four.

Fullerton opened the 2013 Fullerton Classic with their second consecutive sweep, 3-0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-19) in a win over visiting Kent State (1-3).

Senior Bre Moreland led the Titans with a season-high 16 kills while attacking at a clip of .375. Freshman McKenna Painton led Fullerton defensively with 20 digs, while Holland Crenshaw posted five block assists as the Titans totaled nine blocks in the match.

Julie Consani guided the offense with 30 assists as Fullerton posted an attacking percentage of .260.

The Fullerton Classic resumes on Saturday with five matches at Titan Gym, beginning at 10 a.m. as Kent State and Garner-Webb square off. The Titans will host Gardner-Webb at 2:30 p.m., and close the tournament playing undefeated Wake Forest (4-0) at 7:30 p.m.

Notes: The Titans held the Golden Flashes to 10 points in the second set, the lowest total for a Fullerton opponent since as 25-5 set win over Presbyterian College on Sept. 3, 2011…Cal State Fullerton has now won three matches in a row for the first time since producing a five-match win streak from Sept. 29-Oct. 19, 2012…the Titans have swept three straight opponents for the first time since sweeping seven consecutive matches from Sept. 11-22, 2010.
