Fullerton Travels To Hawaii and Northridge

Cal State Fullerton (15-14, 9-7 Big West) will end the 2012 regular season on the road. The Titans will first travel to eighth-ranked Hawai'i (24-2, 16-0) for a 9 p.m. (PT) start on Wednesday. The Titans will then end the season on the road at Cal State Northridge at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

Inside the Numbers: No. 8 Hawai'i has already clinched the 2012 Big West Conference championship, marking the sixth time the Rainbow Wahine have topped the Big West standings…Hawai'i is just two wins away from posting a perfect conference mark. UC Santa Barbara was the last team to reach perfection, tallying an 18-0 mark in 2002. Hawai'i was also flawless in its last season in the Big West, registering an 18-0 mark back in 1995…UH outside hitter Emily Hartong was named the Big West Player of the Week on Monday. It was the fourth weekly honor for Hartong which is the most of any Big West player. Hartong averaged 4.62 kills, 3.88 digs and 0.38 service aces per set as the Rainbow Wahine downed Pacific in five sets and swept UC Davis this past week. A sweep over UC Davis on Nov. 17 awarded Hawai'i Head Coach Dave Shoji his 1,100 career win. Six more victories will tie him with UCLA's Andy Banachowski for first in the nation in career wins with a minimum 10 years as a Division I head coach since 1982.

Cal State Fullerton gave No. 7 Hawai'i all it could handle, but the Rainbow Wahine prevailed, 3-2, clinching the fifth and deciding set to hold off any hopes of a Titan upset. A season-high crowd of 805 witnessed the Titans erase a two-set deficit, by winning games three and four before UH claimed game five. For the second night in a row, Bre Moreland and Kayla Neto recorded double-doubles for the Titans. The pair posted identical marks in kills (14) and digs (13), respectively. Emily Hartong led Hawai'i with a match-high 21 kills, while Jane Croson contributed 16 kills and 16 digs as the Rainbow Wahine hit at a percentage of .191 on the evening. Mita Uiato ran the offense for UH with 41 assists.

Inside the Numbers:  As the final week of the regular season begins there is still a battle for second place between Long Beach State (11-5), Cal State Northridge (10-6) and UC Davis (10-7)…Cal State Northridge is just one win away from registering its first 20-win season since joining the Big West in 2001. Currently owning a 19-10 overall mark, the Matadors need to pick up a victory in one of their final two matches this week…Cal State Northridge is hitting at a rate of .216, good for third in the Big West…the Matadors lead the league averaging 2.84 blocks per set.

Cal State Northridge rebounded from dropping the first set to win the next three as the Matadors defeated Cal State Fullerton, 3-1 (21-25, 25-11, 25-15, 25-21). After losing the first set, the Matadors held the Titans to 47 points in the next three games. Bre Moreland recorded a match-high 17 kills and 13 digs, while Kayla Neto posted her fifth double-double of 2012 with 13 kills and 11 digs. The Matadors attacked at a clip of .256 for the match, while limiting CSF to a .108 hitting percentage as the Titans committed 26 errors and CSUN totaled a match-high 13 blocks. Three Matador attackers led Northridge with double-digit kills led by Britney Graff's double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs. Mahina Haina added 14 kills, while Casey Hinger dropped in 13 kills.

NOTES FROM LAST WEEK
For the first time during the 2012 season, Fullerton won a match despite losing the first set (1-9) in last Friday's 3-1 victory over Cal Poly…Bre Moreland's 24 kills last Friday night were a new a career high, and Moreland's .327 attacking percentage was also a new career best…After a five-set loss to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday night, Fullerton is now 0-5 when starting a match down two sets…Kayla Neto's 25 digs against the Gauchos were a season high, and with 23 kills, she recorded her 11th match with at least 20 kills in 2012…Neto and Bre Moreland lead the Titans with 20 double-doubles apiece…Abbie Miraldi's 14 digs last Saturday night were a new season high…Torrie Brown's 10 kills were a new season best last Saturday against UCSB…last Saturday, the Gauchos won at Titan Gym for the first time since a four-set victory on Sept. 27, 2008.

RECORD BREAKERS (ALL-TIME)
On Nov. 8 at Long Beach State, senior Kayla Neto set the all-time record for career kills at Cal State Fullerton, surpassing Susan Herman (1986-89) and Brittany Moore (2005-08), who shared the all-time record with 1,534 kills each. Neto has now totaled 1,599 career kills as the number continues to climb. Neto's 104 career service aces tie for sixth all-time at Fullerton, and her 306 career total blocks rank fifth all-time at Fullerton. In addition, Neto has accumulated 1,885.0 points at CSF, a total that is the new all-time record at Cal State Fullerton. Gabrielle Dewberry's total of 1,234 career digs ranks fourth all-time at CSF.

Kayla Neto has totaled 512 kills in 2012, a number that ranks fourth in Fullerton single-season history. Neto's has also amassed 597 points in 2012, a total that ranks third in Fullerton single season history. Bre Moreland's 44 service aces tie for third in Fullerton single-season history, while her total of 482 points in 2012 ranks 10th in Fullerton single-season history. Gabrielle Dewberry's 565 digs rank fourth in CSF single-season history.
