Titans Unsettle Pioneers with 3-0 Sweep in Home Opener

Fullerton, Calif. - Kayla Neto had 11 kills, 11 digs and six block assists to lead Cal State Fullerton (3-3) to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Sacred Heart (1-6) Sunday afternoon in a non-conference volleyball match in Titan Gym.

The 25-13, 25-23, 25-20, win snapped a six-set skid for the Titans and gave them their only victory of the weekend. It was the first meeting between the two universities and was the sixth straight loss for the Pioneers.

The Titans out-hit the visitors .212 to .079 with Bre Moreland (10 kills, .133) and Lauren Kissell (8 kills, .636) flanking Neto's offensive output. But it was at the net that the Titans dominated, picking up a season-best 12.5 team blocks led by freshman Holland Crenshaw, who had her share of 8 block assists on her own – also season high.

Alissa Young picked up 10 kills but had 11 errors (-.023) for Sacred Heart to lead her team in the kill column. Karly Shockly was right behind her with 9 kills.

Julie Consani had 33 assists and a pair of blocks running the Titan offense and Gabrielle Dewberry had a game-high 18 digs while shoring up the defensive effort.

The Titans' next action will pit them against Nevada, Washington State and Bakersfield next weekend at the Nevada Tournament in Reno, Nev.
