FULLERTON, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team claimed its second consecutive victory on Thursday afternoon, defeating visiting Cal State Bakersfield, 6-1, at the Titan Courts on campus.

Thursday's victory moved the Titans to 2-6 overall, giving them back-to-back dual match wins for the first time this season. The Roadrunners fell to 2-7 overall with the loss.

Fullerton swept the three doubles matches to claim a 1-0 lead, including a shutout at the No. 1 singles spot as sophomore's Tiffany Mai and Monica Rodriguez blanked Bakersfield's Ashlee Thornycroft and Korina Barefield, 8-0.

In singles play, the Titans won five of the six contests in straight sets with no player losing more than three games in each of the victories. The Roadrunners' only point came at the No. 5 spot where Estefania Limpias defeated Megan Sandford in a tiebreak, 10-3, after splitting the first two sets, 1-6 and 7-6.

Cal State Fullerton continues its homestand on Saturday (Feb. 19) as the Titans return to Big West Conference play by hosting UC Davis at 12 p.m. at the Titan Courts. Fullerton is looking for its first league win of the season after falling to Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge in its first two Big West matches of 2011.
