Fullerton, Calif. - The doubles point proved decisive Sunday as Gonzaga edged Cal State Fullerton, 4-3, in non-conference women's tennis action on the Titan courts.
The Bulldogs (4-2) won at doubles Nos. 1 (8-6) and 3 (8-4) to take a 1-0 lead that stood up when the teams split the six singles matches. Fullerton (1-3) won the top three seeds and Gonzaga won the fourth thru sixth contests.
Monica Rodriguez had the best day for Fullerton. She and Kalika Slevcove won their No. 2 doubles match, 8-5, and she then won the No. 2 singles match, 7-5, 2-6, 10-4 over Katie Edwards.
This week Fullerton hosts CSU Bakersfield on Thursday and Texas-Pan American on Friday.
