Orange County native Ellie Edles Williams has returned to Southern California and Cal State Fullerton once again, this time to lead the women’s tennis program as the interim head coach. She was announced as the head coach on August 10, 2021.

Under the leadership of interim head coach Ellie Edles Williams, the Titans women's tennis program embarked on their seventh straight winning season.  The Titans went 16-8 overall for the season and 5-5 in Big West conference play.  As the No. 5 seed in the Big West Tournament, the Titans defeated the No. 4 seeded UC Davis Aggies in the quarterfinals before falling to the No. 1 seeded UCSB Gauchos in the semifinals.

The Titans went on an 8-game win streak including a perfect 7-0 homestand for the month of March where they defeated three ranked opponents. They took down the No. 37 ranked Utah Utes for one of the biggest wins in program history.  The Titans also became ranked for the first time in program history during the season and achieved their highest ranking of No. 60 after the win over Utah. They finished the season ranked as the No. 74 ranked team in the country.

The Titans had four players receive All-Big West accolades. YuSeung Suh was selected to the Big West First Team. The doubles pairing of Eira Tobrand and Camila Garcia were given First Team honors in doubles. And the doubles pairing of Suh and Natalie Duffy were given honorable mention honors.

Edles returned to Fullerton after spending time with Cal Poly as an assistant coach for the 2019-20 season and then associate head coach in 2020.

She was with the Titans as an assistant coach from 2016-18. In her first season, Edles was part of a historic season, winning 19 matches in 2016-17 while posting an overall mark of 19-4 for a school-record winning percentage of .826. The Titans also put together the longest winning streak in school history, at one point claiming victory in 11 consecutive matches to start the year. In 2017-18, the team went 20-6 and made it to the final of the Big West Tournament.

Edles spent the 2015-16 season as an assistant coach at Middlebury College in Vermont leading the Panthers to a 16-5 record and a trip to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Prior to heading to the East Coast, she also served as an assistant coach at Cal Poly for the 2013-14 season.

A 2013 graduate of UC Davis, Edles was a four-year (2010-13) starter on the women’s tennis team before receiving her degree in human development. She is currently working on her master’s in coaching and athletic administration at Concordia University Irvine.

Edles was the Aggies’ co-captain her senior year and voted Most Inspirational Player three out of her four years. In January of 2011, Edles was voted Big West Conference Student-Athlete of the Week. She also served as an officer for Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at UC Davis, and was nominated by UC Davis and selected by the NCAA to represent the school at the 2012 NCAA Career in Sports Forum.

She has also worked as a teaching professional for six years.

Edles is not only familiar with the Big West Conference due to her time at Cal Poly and UC Davis but her father, Mike Edles, was the head coach at UC Irvine from 1997 to 2012.
