FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's tennis team won their final match of the regular season at home after defeating UC Riverside 4-1 on the Titan Courts.

The Titans improved to 15-7 overall and 6-3 in Big West play heading into next week's Big West Conference Championship. The Titans finished in a 5-way tie for second place with CSUN, Cal Poly, Long Beach State, and UC Riverside.  All five sides had a 6-3 record in conference.

The Titans won the doubles point to take an early lead over the Highlanders.  The No. 2 pairing of Zoe Olmos and Megan Tagaloa defeated their opponents 6-2.  The No. 3 pairing of Diana Yanotovskaya and Kaytlin Taylor defeated their opponent 6-2.

In singles, it took the Titans one more match over the minimum to pull out the victory.  Mariia Nikitash secured the first singles point after defeating the Riverside No. 5 6-0, 6-1. Zoe Olmos was the next to defeat her opponent in No. 2 singles at 6-2, 6-2. The Highlanders got their only point in No. 1 singles when Sofia Lazzaroni defeated Natalie Duffy in straight sets.  Camila Garcia was the match winner after taking down her opponent 7-6 (4), 6-3.

Both the No. 3 Gevorgyan and No. 4 Yanotovskaya were down in their third sets when the match was called.

The Titans will play their first match in the Big West Women's Tennis Championship on Thursday at the Barnes Tennis Center.
