SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's tennis team won their first road match of the season as well as defeating their first NCAA opponent after beating Santa Clara on Sunday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Titans improved to 4-1 on the season but their first three wins were over non-NCAA opponents.
It took every match to decide the winner but the TItans ultimately prevailed in the final match of the day in No. 2 singles between Natalie Duffy and Velizara Fileva of Santa Clara.
The Titans started with an early 1-0 advantage after winning the doubles point. Both the No. 1 and No. 2 pairings for the Titans were able to secure the point.

In singles, it took every match to decide a winner. Santa Clara won the first singles matchup to tie the game at 1-1. They were equal after the second and third matches finished at 2-2. It was all square again after the No. 1 and No. 3 singles finished to make it a 3-3 game. Natalie Duffy ultimately prevailed in the No. 2 singles over her opponent.
