IRVINE, Calif. –  The Titans women's tennis team was unable to defeat the Mustangs on Friday in the Semifinals of the Big West Tournament.

The first win of the day came from No. 3 doubles, Natalie Duffy/YuSeung Suh who beat their opponents 6-2. Not too long after, the Mustangs tied it up once they got the win over No.1 doubles Misaki Kobayashi/Eira Tobrand. The first point of the day then came down to No. 2 doubles. Camila Garcia/Jadie Acidera attempted to make a come back but it was too late and they fell to the Mustangs, 5-7.

The Titans headed into singles down 0-1. 

In singles, No. 1 Misaki Kobayashi had a hard time gaining momentum and lost to Mustang, Tsukij 6-1, 6-0. YuSeung Suh then dropped in straight sets to Mustang, Ackerman 6-2, 6-2. With the Mustangs up 3-0 and four matches still on, the Titans remained hopefully. Both Natalie Duffy and Juliette Daries were up in the third set on their courts and looked like they'd put the Titans up on the board. Unfortunately, that time never came and the Titans fell to the Mustangs after the completion of No. 3 singles, Jadie Acidera. 

This is fourth consecutive Big West semifinals for the Titans. Cal Poly will move on to play UC Santa Barbara in the finals tomorrow.

The final score for the Titans was 0-4. 

This match was the last one for three of our Titans: Jadie Acidera, Taylor Valenzuela, and Genevieve Zeidan.
