FULLERTON, Calif. - Coming off the 2020 spring semester, Titans Athletics had the best academic semester ever with a cumulative GPA of 3.32. Student-Athletes who are flourishing away from their field of play will continued to be honored through Student Spotlight. This week's honoree is tennis senior Jadie Acidera.

A natvie of Anaheim, Acidera graduated from JSerra Catholic High School and arrived on campus in Fullerton in the fall of 2017. She boasts a 3.69 GPA and is pursuing a degree in health science with a concentration in health promotion and disease prevention. She has been member of the CSUF Dean's List each year she's been on campus.

Along with being a member of the tennis team, she is also the Vice President of the Titans Athletics Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She serves as Community Service Chair and the tennis team representative as well. She helps organize community service projects for the student-athletes to participate in and maximize community engagement.

In February of 2020, she began work as a Health Scholar with COPE Health Solutions. She contributes to health care delivery team by following leadership directives when requested. She also enhances patient experience by addressing patient needs and delivering basic health care tasks.

Beginning in August, she is also the Department Coordinator of Medical Surgical Department and Materials Management with COPE at Kaiser Permanente Anaheim. Among other things, she manages logistics by inputting and updating trackers, creating availability, and confirming shift times and hours. Acidera is also Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by the American Heart Association.

She spent her first semester on campus as an intern at the Fullerton Arboretum where she integrated classroom knowledge with crop cultivation to recognize the demands of urban agriculture in local and diverse communities. In the spring of 2019 she was also a Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation Clinic intern on campus.

She also volunteered here time with Growth Opportunities through Athletics, Learning, and Service (GOALS), an organization that helps provide underrepresented minority youths with a sports program to enrich athletic growth while promoting team concepts and values.

The honorees are chosen by the Athletics Academics Services staff. For example, a student-athlete that is also tutor or a member of a leadership committee would be things that could could help an athlete garner the recognition. Titans student-athletes remain busy with their sport responsibilities but still find ways to thrive in the classroom as well as impact the community.
