FULLERTON, Calif.- The Titans picked up right where they left off last season, earning a dominating 7-0 victory over UC San Diego to open the 2018 campaign, Thursday afternoon out at the Titan Tennis Courts.

For Fullerton (1-0), the win marks its fourth straight season-opening win, while the Titans improve to 10-1 all-time against the Tritons.

Fullerton showed up to play from the very beginning, as the duo of Karla Portalatin and Sarah Nuno set the tone in doubles play, running away with a 6-2 victory on court one over Ashley Chao and Becky Chou. Caisey Lee Emery and Luxizi Meng then secured the doubles point for the Titans, as the duo bested UCSD's Shuchen Lin and Valeria Corral from the No. 3 spot.

Jadie Acidera and Genevieve Zeidan fell to Alexandra Weil and Madison Hale on court two, but the point had already been secured.

Fullerton's domination continued in singles play, as every single Titan earned a victory. The freshman and 103rd ranked Zeidan kept her fantastic season going, earning her first ever victory from the No. 1 spot. She took down Chao in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3 to put Fullerton up 2-0. Zeidan ran her record to 11-1 on the year.

Emery then followed suit on court five, checking in with an easy 6-2, 6-0 win over Corral to put the Titans on the brink of victory, up 3-0.

Then it was Acidera providing the clinching point for the Titans, coming through with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Hale to wrap up the result for Fullerton.

However, while the match was decided, the damage wasn't done, as Fullerton proceeded to earn victories on the final three courts. Meng easily got past Chou at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-1.

Portalatin then defeated Jasmine Hosseini 6-2, 6-3 on court three, before Nuno wrapped up the 7-0 sweep with a 7-5, 6-2 straight set win over Weil on court two.

The Titans will now head to Florida for their first road test of the year, as they'll take on the defending champion and No. 3 ranked Florida Gators on January 27th at 8 am PT.
