Notes: Admission to Titan Tennis Courts is FREE

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton is locked into the No. 4 seed for next week's Big West Conference Women's Tennis Championship, but the Titans will try to deliver Hawai'i its first conference loss of the season as CSF hosts the Rainbow Wahine in the final regular season match of the year at 11 a.m., Sunday, at Titan Tennis Courts.

Admission to the match is free of charge, and Titan seniors Camille De Leon and Alexis Valenzuela will be honored on Fullerton's senior day.

The Titans enter the match at 18-2 overall on the season – setting the program record for single season victories after Wednesday's 4-3 win at San Jose State. Fullerton is also 5-2 in Big West play, locked into the fourth spot in the standings for the upcoming championships.

Hawai'i has locked down the No. 1 seed for the Big West Women's Tennis Tournament at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, however, the Rainbow Wahine are seeking to win the outright regular season title.  UH is bidding to finish conference play unbeaten, entering Sunday's match with a 7-0 record.

This represents UH's first Big West title – either shared or outright – since rejoining the league for the 2013 season.  A UH loss opens the door to UC Santa Barbara to earn a share of the crown.

NEWS & NOTES
Cal State Fullerton has its best record (18-2) and most victories in program history, and Fullerton has yet to lose the doubles point in 2017. The Titans have also suffered just one loss (10-1) at Titan Tennis Courts this year.

Senior Alexis Valenzuela has won her last five matches to improve to 14-1 in 2017, and her career mark is now 54-15 in dual match singles play.

Fellow senior Camille De Leon is 11-4 in singles action, and boasts a career singles mark of 53-29 at Fullerton.

As a group, the Titans' singles record is 72-27 (.727) in 2017, and Fullerton's doubles record is 41-8 (.837).

Junior Danielle Pham is 12-5 on the season, while sophomores Karla Portalatin (12-6) and Sarah Nuno (12-5) are also having successful years. Fellow sophomore Masako Makiba is 11-6 and on a three-match win streak.

In doubles play, the team of Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin (17-1) has won 14 in a row, while the team of De Leon and Valenzuela (16-1) has won 13 straight matches. De Leon and Valenzuela are the first No. 1 Titan doubles team to reach 16 dual victories since prior to 2001.

OPPONENTS
The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (13-6, 7-0 Big West) will put its undefeated conference record on the line in its final regular season match of the year at Cal State Fullerton on Sunday. Hawai'i has already earned at least a share of its first ever Big West regular season title and has claimed the top seed in next week's BWC Championship tournament at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif. The Rainbow Wahine have won four of their last five matches and are led by 54th-ranked rookie Petra Melounova who has a team-high 15-2 overall record and a 5-0 record in conference matches.

AWARD SEASON
Senior Alexis Valenzuela has been voted the Big West Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week five times during her career and two times in 2017. 

Most recently the West Covina, Calif., native earned the honor after going 2-0 in singles action and 2-0 in doubles play in wins against UC Irvine (5-2) and Seton Hall (6-1).

In addition, she posted three singles victories as the Titans swept UC San Diego, the No. 13-ranked team in Division II, as well as San Diego State (4-0) and San Diego (4-3) on the road in the second week of the season.

Cal State Fullerton sophomore Sarah Nuno went a combined 3-0 in singles and doubles play to earn the Big West Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week award, it was announced by the league on Feb. 8.
Nuno overcame a first set loss to Joselyn Treyes Albar, but rebounded to win the match against her Dons counterpart, prevailing 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-3.
Against Santa Clara, she blanked Zeina El Tawil, 6-0, 6-0.  She helped the Titans capture the doubles point with Portalatin, as the duo took care of El Tawil and Nabila Farah, 6-2. 
The athlete of the week award was the first for Nuno during her Titan career.
