IRVINE, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton sophomore Sarah Nuno went a combined 3-0 in singles and doubles play to earn this week's Big West Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week award, it was announced by the league on Wednesday.

The Titans, off to their best start in program history, improved to 6-0 with a pair of road victories against San Francisco (5-1) and Santa Clara (4-0) last week, with Nuno winning twice at No. 4 singles and once at No. 2 doubles with partner Karla Portalatin.

Nuno overcame a first set loss to Joselyn Treyes Albar, but rebounded to win the match against her Dons counterpart, prevailing 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-3.

Against Santa Clara, she blanked Zeina El Tawil, 6-0, 6-0.  She helped the Titans capture the doubles point with Portalatin, as the duo took care of El Tawil and Nabila Farah, 6-2.  Nuno is 4-1 on the season in both singles and doubles.

This is the second straight week and the second time this year at Titan has been named women's tennis athlete of the week as Alexis Valenzuela was honored on Feb. 1.

The award is also the first for Nuno during her Titan career.

Cal State Fullerton has just one match this week, hosting UC Riverside in its Big West Conference opener at Titan Tennis Courts with a 10 a.m. start on Saturday. Admission to Titan Tennis Courts is free.

Others nominated: Susanne Boyden (Cal Poly); Maeva Razakasoa (Long Beach State); Melissa Baker (UC Santa Barbara)
