IRVINE, Calif. --- Senior Alexis Valenzuela was voted the Big West Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league on Wednesday.

Valenzuela has spurred Cal State Fullerton to its first 4-0 start in program history due to her stellar play at the top of the singles and doubles lineup.

She posted three singles victories last week as the Titans defeated UC San Diego, the No. 13-ranked team in Division II, as well as San Diego State (4-0) and San Diego (4-3) on the road.

Valenzuela's 6-2, 6-4 victory at the top of the order over Jana Buth also clinched the 4-0 victory for Fullerton over San Diego State.

Valenzuela is now 44-14 in her dual match singles career, and this marks the fourth time in her career she has been named athlete of the week.

The honor is also the first of the 2017 season for Cal State Fullerton.
