For the Tritons, the match was an exhibition. UCSD is currently ranked 13th in the country by the Oracle/ITA Division II Women's National Team Rankings.
Fullerton's No. 1 doubles team of Camille De Leon and Alexis Valenzuela improved to 2-0 with a 6-4 victory over Britta Mosser and Shannon Theisen. At No. 2 doubles, Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin also remained undefeated on the season with a 6-3 defeat of Ashley Chao and Becky Chou.
The No. 3 doubles team of Masako Makiba and Danielle Pham picked up its first win of the year by toppling Valeria Corral and Alexandra Weil, 6-3.
In singles play, Valenzuela's 6-1, 6-2 win against Mosser moved the senior to 2-0 on the year. At No. 2 doubles, De Leon won her second straight singles match with a two-set, 6-0, 6-1 victory against Chao.
Nuno, playing in the third spot, picked up her first win of the year defeating Chou, 6-0, 6-4.
At No. 4 singles, Portalatin improved to 2-0 on the season after moving past Jasmine Hosseini, 7-5, 6-1.
Makiba came back from a first-set loss to edge Weil, 5-7, 6-1, 10-3, at No. 5 in the order, improving to 2-0 in 2017.
While Pham picked up her first singles win with a come-from-behind 2-6, 6-1, 10-1 victory over Corral.
The Titans return to action this weekend traveling to San Diego State on Saturday and San Diego on Sunday.
