Banner Season Welcomes Wealth of Big West Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – Cal Sate Fullerton women's tennis head coach Bill Reynolds was named Co-Coach of the Year as the 2013 All-Big West Women's Tennis All-Conference awards were announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.

Reynolds was bestowed the honor after concluding his 24-year career with the Titans, as he is scheduled to retire following the 2013 season.  His last season was arguably the Titans' best yet as the program's 11-14 record marked the most victories for Fullerton since 2004.

In addition, Fullerton's four league victories represent CSF's highest total since the Big West began round-robin play in 2006.  Reynolds guided the Titans to the fifth seed in the Big West Tournament, the program's highest designation in the bracket since the beginning of round-robin play.

Senior Tiffany Mai was named to the Big West Second Team for singles play, earning her fourth career all-conference honor. She received honorable mention accolades in 2010 and 2011, while earning second team honors in 2012 and 2013.

Fullerton's No. 1 player the majority of the year, Mai finished the season with an 8-15 record in dual match play, and ended her Titan career with a win after defeating Xenia Suworowa of Hawai'i at the Big West Championships last Friday.

Mai's second team selection was the eighth for Fullerton since 1990.

The doubles team of Morgan McIntosh and Kalika Slevcove was also named to the Big West Tennis All-Conference Second Team.

McIntosh and Slevcove led Fullerton with a 14-8 dual match record, including a 5-2 mark in Big West contests. This is the second league honor of McIntosh's career as the junior earned honorable mention accolades for doubles play with Mai in 2012.

Selvcove and McIntosh are the ninth Titans' doubles team to earn all-league second team honors since 1989.

UC Irvine's Kristina Smith was named the Big West Player of the Year, and Long Beach State's Ebba Unden was named the Big West Freshman of the Year. UCI head coach Mike Edles was named Co-Coach of the Year along with Reynolds, earning the honor for the fifth time in his career as the Anteaters (22-4, 9-0) captured the regular season league championship.
