Titans' Brooke Weekley Earns Academic All-District Honors

FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton senior right-hander Brooke Weekley was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.

Weekley, a business administration major with a concentration in marketing, will graduate summa cum laude from Cal State Fullerton this spring. She is a four-year member of the Dean's List and a Big West Conference Scholar-Athlete from 2004-07.

Weekley is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society for business and management and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She has also served as president (2006-07), vice president (2005-06), and secretary of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

On the field, Weekley is 8-4 overall this season with three saves in 19 appearances for the Titans with a team-best 1.72 ERA that also ranks third in the Big West. She has struck out 61 in 77 1/3 innings pitched this season and has held opponents to a .232 batting average.

To be elgible for the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.

By winning this award, Weekley is eligible to be named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team which will be released on May 30.
