FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton freshman Gabby Aragon capped off a hard-hitting weekend by going 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and three RBI to help lift the host Titans to a 6-3 victory over UC Davis, salvaging the final game of their three-game series with the Aggies on Sunday afternoon at Anderson Family Field.

The victory moved Fullerton to 10-34 overall on the season and 5-7 in Big West Conference play, snapping a six-game losing streak in the process. UC Davis fell to 18-25 overall and 7-4 in league play, ending a string of three-straight wins.

Aragon finished a triple short of the cycle, slugging a controversial three-run home run as part of a four-run second inning, doubling in the fourth inning, and reaching on a single in the sixth. Junior Torrie Anderson also finished with multiple hits, finishing the day 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while four other players collected base hits on the day.

Redshirt freshman Katey Laban (3-6) earned the victory, carrying a no-hitter into the fifth and a shutout into the seventh before UC Davis rallied for its three runs. She scattered eight hits and struck out one in her first career complete-game.

Dana Waldusky (7-13) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings of work. Alex Holmes entered in relief in the second inning, keeping her side in the contest despite allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three in 4 1/3 innings on the afternoon.

After breaking the scoreless tie on an infield hit and an error, Aragon's second career home run didn't come without some argument from the Davis dugout as it appeared that the ball had bounced off the warning track and over the fence for a ground rule double which would have scored one run and put runners on second and third with two outs.

Instead, after much discussion, it was ruled that Aragon's ball did clear the fence, scoring all three runs and giving the Titans a 4-0 advantage, knocking Waldusky from the game. Holmes came on to pitch and retired the side via a fly ball after the second Aggies error of the inning to avoid any further damage.

Fullerton tacked on two more runs in the sixth with two outs as Anderson singled up the middle and Aragon singled to put two on. With runners moving up 60 feet on the throw, Krystal Heinle reached on an infield single deep behind the bag at second base, scoring both runners who were moving on contact with two gone in the inning.

UC Davis then made things interesting in the seventh with back-to-back singles by Kylie Fan and Marissa Araujo to start the inning. After a groundout moved both up a base, Kelly Harman singled back up the middle to score Fan and break up Laban's shutout bid.

A groundout by pinch hitter Rachel Miller moved two into scoring position for Elizabeth Santana, who laced a single to left, plating Araujo and cutting the deficit to 6-2. Jessica Gonzalez would follow with an RBI single just inside the right field line to make it 6-3, but Laban and the defense shut the door, inducing Holmes into a game-ending flyout to center.

Gonzalez finished 2-for-4 to lead the Aggies while six other players collected singles on the day.

Cal State Fullerton hits the road for two of its final three Big West series in 2010, beginning next weekend in Stockton against Pacific. The series opens with a doubleheader on Saturday (May 1) at 12 p.m. with Sunday's (May 2) single-game finale also beginning at noon.
