McClinton and Salazar Join 2023-24 Signing Class

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton softball program added two more transfers to the 2023-24 roster, head coach Kelly Ford announced Monday morning.

Colby McClinton
Infielder | Kaneohe, Oahu | Biola University | Kamehameha Schools Kapalama

Colby McClinton started all 53 games she appeared in for the Eagles at shortstop in 2023. She finished her rookie season batting .429 with 17 extra-base hits (12 doubles, five triples) and 26 RBI. She finished the season with 22 multi-hit games, six of which she recorded three or more hits. Her dominance at the plate transferred to the bases where she stole 16 bags (20 attempts), three of which she earned in the Eagles 8-3 win at Chaminade (Feb. 24, 2023), a game-high. McClinton ended the season leading the PacWest with 73 H, a .523 OBP and 1.095 OPS, while also leading Biola in swipes.

She became a decorated student-athlete following her freshman success, being named to the D2CCA First Team All-Shortshop and NFCA First Team All-Shortstop. McClinton also received PacWest Player, Freshman and Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in addition to First Team All-PacWest Shortstop accolades. The infielder was named Biola's Female Athlete of the Year and an Easton/NFCA Academic All-American Scholar-Athlete.

"There's not an award Colby did not receive at Biola. I am excited to watch her take the field in a Titan uniform," Ford said. "I think she will bring power, speed and a fantastic glove to Titans softball. We have been really impressed with her and this transition."

Abigail Salazar
Infielder | Santa Maria, Calif. | Allan Hancock College | Ernest Righetti High School

Salazar spent her freshman and sophomore years at community college before landing a spot on a Division I softball team. As a Bulldog, Salazar became a two-time First Team All-Conference selection with a .371 batting average (82 H, 38 RBI). She swiped 37 of the 45 bags she attempted to steal in her two-year career with the Bulldogs.

Her 24 stolen bases during the 2022-23 season led the team and ranked top 10 amongst all CCCAA softball athletes. In 107 at-bats last season, Salazar reached base safely with 36 H (6 XBH) and 19 BB for a .523 OBP.

"Abigail put up some fantastic community college numbers for her freshman and sophomore year," Ford said. "I got a great report from her college coach on her as a leader and team player. She's going to fill in some gaps that we needed filled and will leave her mark on Titans softball."

Colby and Abigail join the Titans 2023-24 signing class with extensive experience and determination to succeed in a Titans uniform.
