CLEMSON, S.C. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans split the day on Saturday against UNC Greensboro and Auburn.

The Titans defeated the UNC Greensboro Spartans in the first game of the day, 5-0 before falling to Auburn 5-0 in their final game of the 2023 season.

Game 1 - Cal State Fullerton 5, UNC Greensboro 0

The Titans won their first win-or-go-home match of the day when they defeated the UNC Greensboro Spartans 5-0.

It was a pitcher's duel through three innings between Myka Sutherlin and Rhyann Jones as neither pitcher allowed a hit.

However, the Titans finally found the breakthrough in a big way in the fourth inning.  The Titans sent 10 batters to the dish and scored five runs on seven hits in the inning.

Hannah Becerra picked up the first base hit of the game and stole second base.  Daisy Munoz drove her in for the first run of the game.

Ava Arce came in to run for Munoz and scored on a base hit by Deshea Hill that went over the Spartans first baseman's glove to put the Titans up 2-0.

Jessi Alcala hit a double to put two runners in scoring position and forced the Spartans to change pitchers.

Evelyn Sablan greeted the new pitcher with a knock to center field that scored two runs.

Sophie Guevara came up to pinch hit and scored Sablan from second to make it a 5-0 ballgame.

After sitting for a long time, Myka Sutherlin allowed her first hit in the fifth inning and a walk with one out.  However, Sutherlin was able to finish the inning strong with two strikeouts.  Sutherlin finished with a final line of 5 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, two walks, and nine strikeouts in 80 pitches.
