CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIF. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's softball split their second day at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.  The Titans defeated #24 Oregon in their first game of the day before being shutout by #2 Oklahoma in their second game after

Cal State Fullerton 5, Oregon 0

The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's softball team won their first game of the day on Friday morning after shutting out #24 Oregon 5-0.

Myka Sutherlin pitched her third complete game of the season and racked up another win over a ranked opponent in her Titan career.  Sutherlin allowed just three hits and hit one batter and struck out five batters in the game.  Sutherlin shutout #8 Arizona last year at the Mary Nutter and also defeated #22 LSU in the Tempe Regional last season.

The Titan bats pounded out 11 hits for the game.  Megan Delgadillo was 3-for-3 with 1 run, Daisy Munoz was 2-for-4 with 1 RBI, and Alexia Lopez was 2-for 3 with 1 RBI.

Both sides were trading zeros across the first five innings of the game as both pitchers battled out of jams whenever there were runners on base.

The Titans loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth inning after a Neil walk, Munoz infield hit, and Alcala reached on an infield error.  Deshea Hill came up huge in a pitch hit situation and singled over the first baseman's head into shallow right field that plated two runs.  The right fielder's throw bounced past the catcher and allowed Alcala to score all the way from first to give the Titans a 3-0 lead.

Alexia Lopez hit her first career triple in the next at-bat after the Oregon right fielder lost track of the ball which scored the runner to make it a 4-0 game.

The Titans would get one more insurance run in the seventh inning after Delgadillo was on second base after a walk and a steal.  Daisy Munoz ripped one over the shortstop to shallow left field to score Delgadillo and make it a 5-0 game.

The Ducks would get one hit in their final at-bats but Sutherlin was able to get a strikeout on the final batter to complete the shutout over #24 Oregon.

Cal State Fullerton 0, Oklahoma 8

The Titans played their second game of the day against #2 Oklahoma.  The Titans were ruled for the first time all season in the game against the Sooners.

Raci Miranda got the start and went one inning and allowed five runs on three hits, three walks, and two strikeouts.  Haley Rainey went 1.2 innings and allowed 2 unearned runs on one hit. Hailey Harris made her Titan debut and allowed one run on two hits and two walks.  Alexia Silvas pitched a final scoreless frame for the Titans in the fourth.

The Sooner scored one on the first inning after a leadoff walk and double started the inning.  Miranda was able to get the next three batters out including two strikeouts. The Sooners added four in the second inning.  After back-to-back walks and a single, the Oklahoma 9th hitter blasted a three-run homer to make it a 5-0 ballgame.

The Titans had their best opportunity to score in the third inning.  They had Antuanett Dean and Megan Delgadillo on board to start the inning after a walk and an error.  Hannah Becerra singled through the left side and the Titans sent Dean to score and she was thrown out on the play on a close slide at home.

They added two more runs in the third inning after an error extended the inning.  Oklahoma pounced on the mistake in the next at-bat as Riley Boone hit a home run over the right field fence.  Oklahoma added one more run in the fourth to give them an 8-0 lead.

The Titans are scheduled to take on Oregon State and Florida on Saturday for their final two games of the Mary Nutter. First pitch against the Beavers is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
