Titans Fall to Kansas in First Game at Puerto Vallarta Collegiate Challenge

PUERTO VALLARTA, JALISCO, MEXICO - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's softball team dropped their first game of the Puerto Vallarta Collegiate Challenge, falling 5-0 to Kansas. 

The Titans could muster only one hit while the defense committed three errors.  The Titans defense has already committed 9 errors this season.

The Titan pitching staff allowed five runs, however, only one of them was earned. Raci Miranda allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks. Haley Rainey allowed two runs (both unearned) on one walk and two hits and one strikeout.  Kasey Hamilton threw a complete game one-hitter for the Jayhawks on the other side of the diamond. 

The Titans had runners in scoring position in the first three innings, but couldn't cash in any runs.

Kansas took the lead in the fourth inning on a lead-off double and a hard hit single in the infield.  They scored four more unanswered runs in the game that all came via an error to start the inning.

After playing the first game of the day today, the Titans will play the final game of the day and square off against Ole Miss on Friday at 6:30 PM pst.
