SAN DIEGO - Cal State Fullerton softball completed the Big West series sweep at UC San Diego on Saturday in game one of the doubleheader. The Titans (27-12, 12-0 BW) and Tritons (8-15, 4-8 BW) went nine innings but Fullerton came out on top, 1-0. Senior pitcher Sophie Frost threw a complete-game shutout to earn the win. Fullerton has swept each of its last six Big West series dating back to 2019 and has won 19 straight league games.

In game two, a non-conference matchup, the Titans rotated the squad heavily. Although they led 5-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the team fell 6-5, snapping the team's 14-game winning streak.

GAME ONE
Frost (14-3), has not lost a decision since March 5 against Fresno State. She threw a career-high nine innings and the outing marked her ninth complete game of the season. She allowed just four hits and struck out three batters. The last time a Titan pitched 8+ innings was Dani Martinez on 5/4/19. Furthermore, the last time time a Titan pitched an 8+ inning CG shutout was 4/2/17 when Cerissa River threw 12 innings against UCR.

Offensively, the Titans recorded seven hits and stranded eight runners. But in the top of the ninth, freshman KK Humphreys delivered with a double down the left field line to score Alexa Neil (pinch runner for Irie Siofele).

GAME TWO
Catcher Jessi Alcala launched her first-career home run in the fourth inning to tie the game for the Titans. UCSD went back on top in the bottom of the fourth then the Titans picked up three runs from an Alyssa Hernandez double that cleared the bases. The team tacked on an unearned run in the inning to lead 5-2.

UCSD scored one in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the lead and they did not relinquish it.

Neil was the lone Titan with a multi-hit game as she went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and a double.
