LONG BEACH, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (13-9) split their Friday doubleheader with a 2-0, upset over No. 18 Minnesota before falling 6-5 to San Diego State in 11 innings.

After throwing 4.2 scoreless against Michigan last night, Sophie Frost (4-1) came out and kept things rolling against the No. 18 ranked Golden Gophers. Going the distance, the senior right-hander allowed just two hits in the shutout while striking out nine.

While the offense was held relatively quiet by Amber Fiser, the Titans put two runs on the board against the righty.

The first came in the fourth as Deshea Hill singled through the right side to plate Irie Siofele and give the Titans a 1-0 lead. The second came in the sixth as Zoe Richard would come through clutch with an RBI double to left-center giving Fullerton an insurance run.

Irie Siofele also had a nice game, going 1-for-3 with a double scoring both of the Titans' runs.

The win marks the first shutout against a ranked opponent since March 5, 2017 when the Titans shutout No. 22 ranked Baylor, 1-0.

In game two, both teams would put up zeros in the first, but San Diego State opened up the scoring with two runs in the second.

The Titans would not answer until the top of the fourth as Deshea Hill came through with an RBI double. Fullerton would then take the lead in the top of the sixth on a Richard RBI double and a wild pitch.

Unfortunately, an error from Sam Kennedy in the bottom half would tie the game up at three runs a piece.

In extras, both teams pushed runs across in the eighth and again in the tenth. In the bottom of the 11th, the Aztecs would get an RBI single to right-center to walk-off and take the 6-5 win.

For Fullerton, it's their second extra-inning loss this season, both to San Diego State.

Frost appeared once again throwing 4.2 innings allowing three unearned runs on three hits while striking out six. For the day, she totaled 11.2 innings surrendering just five hits and no earned runs, striking out 15 opposing batters.

Cal State Fullerton is back in action tomorrow against No. 22 Central Florida at 10:00 a.m. at the LBSU Softball Complex.
