FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (2-0) made it back-to-back wins with a 4-3 walkoff victory over San Jose State (0-2) on Friday night. Kelsie Whitmore was the hero sending the first pitch of the bottom of the seventh to the berm in left field.

Whitmore finished the night 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored to go along with her second home run of the season. Freshman Megan Delgadillo continued the hot start to her rookie campaign going 4-for-4 with a run scored.

The scoring got started early as the Spartans jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an RBI double. However, the Titans would respond with three "small ball" runs in the bottom half.

Delgadillo and Alexa Neil recorded infield singles while Whitmore walked to load the bases. Delgadillo would score on a wild pitch, Neil would score on an infield single from Daisy Munoz, and Whitmore would trot home on an Irie Siofele sac fly.

The pitchers settled in after that as neither team plated a run until the sixth.

Trish Parks, making her first appearance since the 2018 NCAA Regional would throw three innings allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out three. After loading the bases, she would hand the ball over to Dani Martinez.

The reigning Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year would get a strikeout, force out, and a popout escaping the bases loaded jam with no damage done. She would go onto get the win, her second in as many games, throwing four innings allowing two runs on two hits while striking out six.

San Jose State would tie the game up in the sixth on a two-run home run from Vicky Gutierrez and the Spartans would shut down the Titans' offense in the bottom of the sixth keeping it tied into the final frame.

Despite allowing a pair of two-out walks, Martinez worked a scoreless top of the seventh setting up Whitmore's chance at heroics.

The first pitch Shannon Haddad would end up beyond the left field fence as Whitmore ended the game with one swing of the bat.

Cal State Fullerton will continue opening weekend with a doubleheader starting with Utah State at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
