WESTWOOD, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (38-17) fell in the Los Angeles Regional opener against Missouri (33-23) on Friday afternoon. The Titans will play the loser of UCLA-Weber State tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
Missouri got on the board first on a two-run home run in the bottom half of the first to take the early lead. However, the Titans would respond with two of their own in the top half of the second on Daisy Munoz's team-high ninth home run of the season.
Fullerton would take a 3-2 lead as Alexa Neil got a one-out single and stole second before coming around to score on an Ari Williams double. With that double, Williams extended her reached base streak to 22 straight games which is the longest streak by a Titan since 2016.
After giving up the first inning home run, starting pitcher Dani Martinez was locked in only allowing one hit and one walk through the next three innings. Unfortunately, that dominant stretch would come to an end as Missouri put up five runs in the home half of the fifth to take the 7-3 lead.
Martinez would finish with 4.2 innings allowing seven runs on seven hits and a pair of walks while striking out two. Taylor Dockins would take over in relief and shutdown the Tigers, throwing 1.1 innings allowing just one hit while striking out one.
Fullerton would battle back for a run in the sixth on a Kelsie Whitmore RBI single, but ultimately the comeback would fall short as the Titans could not overcome the 7-4 deficit.

Cal State Fullerton will face the loser of the UCLA-Weber State game tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. and look to move their way through the loser's bracket. Tomorrow's game will be broadcasted on the ESPN family of networks.
