FULLERTON, Calif. – With the season just three days away, Titans softball welcomes ten newcomers to the program and this series goes "in the dugout" with each of them to get to know who they are. Our last installment features Paola Villegas.

Villegas is a 5'7" infielder from Sylmar, California. She joins the Titans after four years of varsity of softball at Sylmar Charter High School. With the Spartans, she was a four-time All-League First Team selection. In her sophomore season, she led the league with a .489 batting average and followed that season up with a First Team All-City selection in her junior season. She was also a Gold Glove recipient in her junior year as well. Most recently, she was a member for the Junior Mexican National Team in the summer.

Academically, she was a standout finishing with above a 3.6 GPA all four years and was in high honors her sophomore and junior years.

"P, as we call her, is one of the most respectful and inspirational athletes on our roster," says head coach Kelly Ford. "Her experience with the Mexican National Team is going to take her game to the next level and she is a delight to coach."

Paola is the daughter of Adolfo and Yadirha Villegas and has a younger brother, Andres. She will be majoring in kinesiology. When asked why she chose Cal State Fullerton, she said "it is my dream school and I definitely know I will grow as both a student and an athlete at CSUF."

The Titans are just three days away from opening their 2019 season against Idaho State. First pitch will be February 9 at 6:00 p.m. at Anderson Family Field.
