With 2019 just around the corner, here is a look back on a memorable 2018 for Titans Softball.

  • The year began with a record setting Leadoff Social fundraiser with over 200 people in attendance and the program raising nearly $50,000.

  • After being selected as the favorites to win the conference, the Titans lived up to the hype absolutely dominating the Big West bringing home another championship. Winning every single conference series, including four sweeps, Fullerton ran away with their third consecutive Big West crown. The 18-3 conference record was the best for the program since 2003.

  • Fullerton made their 28th NCAA Regional appearance as they headed to UCLA once again for the Los Angeles Regional. They started 2-0 and were on the winner's side of the championship after beating Texas State in the first game and upsetting host UCLA in nine innings in their second game. Unfortunately, the Bruins would win back-to-back games eliminating the Titans from the postseason.

  • The Titans showed that teamwork really does make the dream work again as Fullerton won the championship despite not having Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, nor Freshman Pitcher of the Year.

  • The team took home eleven BWC awards for the year including head coach Kelly Ford winning co-Coach of the Year marking her third straight year earning the award. It's the first time in Big West history that a coach has achieved that feat. Deshea HillZoe RichardAri Williams, and Bryanna Ybarra all earned First Team selections while Sophie FrostTrish ParksJulia Valenzuela, and Sammie Vandiver earned Second Team Selections. Brooke Clemetson earned an Honorable Mention and Hill also earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

  • Hill and Valenzuela were also named to the NFCA All-Region Third Team.

  • Feb 22: Taylor Dockins no-hits San Diego. It was the 57th no-no in program history and first since 2013.

  • Feb 24: Fullerton takes down Mississippi State in the Mary Nutter Classic. The Bulldogs at that time had the number two ranked pitching staff in the nation.

  • Mar 30: Fullerton hosts "No One Fights Alone" night in honor of Taylor Dockins. Dockins got the start in the circle, picking up a complete game victory over UCSB.

  • Mar 14: Fullerton completes a double-header sweep of No. 18 Long Beach State and take the series.

  • Apr 22: Coach Ford earns her 200th career win at Cal State Fullerton in a double-header sweep over Hawai'i.

  • The Titans touched up the record books a little bit in 2018:
    • Ari Williams set the all-time stolen base record currently sitting at 71 for her career. She also became the only Titan to ever record three 20-plus stolen base seasons.
    • Brooke Clemetson became the only Titan to ever reach 30 stolen bases in a single-season setting the single-season record at 35 steals. She also recorded 47 runs scored and drew 40 walks. They rank tied for eighth and tied for fourth most in a single season, respecitively. Her 1.000 fielding percentage marks just the 10th time a Titan went a full season without making an error. She also finished her career second all-time with 66 stolen bases.
    • Zoe Richard's 500 fielding chances are ninth most in single-season history and her 469 putouts rank eighth most.
    • Shianne Brannan had 160 fielding assists this season, which is good for fifth most in a single season and finished her career with 525 career assists, second most in program history.
    • Sammie Vandiver finished her career ranking seventh all-time with a .350 batting average as well as fourth all-time with 135 runs scored and 246 total hits.
    • Bryanna Ybarra finished her Titan career ranking sixth all-time with a .409 on-base percentage.

  • Cal State Fullerton softball saw six of their athletes graduate in the spring and hd two more that just graduated this winter.

  • The Titans had six student-athletes nominated for the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Award as Ari Williams, Gabrielle Rodas, Mikaela Francis, Nyah Rodman, Trish Parks, and Shianne Brannan all received nominations.

  • Shianne Brannan became the next Titan to continue her playing career internationally joining the Canadian National Team over the summer.

  • Mikaela Francis was nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year award and was also awarded the Big West Service and Leadership Award.

  • With the loss of eight athletes following the season, there were 10 new Titans welcomed to the program to fill the vacancies. While most times it might take some adjusting to the new program, these girls fit in perfectly from the start and helped the Titans go 6-2 in their fall schedule.

  • Kelsie Whitmore participated in the Women's Baseball World Cup as a part of the USA National Team. She was also selected to be a part of Major League Baseball's "Take the Field" event in Las Vegas.

  • Freshman Mia Marinakis played in the ESF Super 6 Tournament as a member of the Greek National Team.
  • Freshman Paola Villegas was selected for a tryout with the Junior Mexican National Team.

  • Head Coach Kelly Ford was honored at the NFCA Convention for joining the 600 career win club.

  • Assistant Athletics Director and head Athletic Trainer Julie Max was awarded the Judi Garman Determination Award.

Opening day is just 43 days away! The Titans will be hosting the Titan Classic Feb. 7-10 and opening up their season against Idaho State on Feb. 7 at Anderson Family Field.
