INDIANAPOLIS – Cal State Fullerton will travel to the Los Angeles Regional hosted by UCLA for the third consecutive season as they take part in the 28th NCAA Regionals in program history.
The No. 3 seed in the four-team Regional, the Titans will take on No. 2 seed Texas State, Friday at 5:30 pm PT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3. The Regional's No. 1 seed, UCLA, will face No. 4 seed Sacramento State in the second game of the day with the game scheduled at 8:00 pm PT.
The host Bruins (50-4, 20-4 Pac-12) earned the No. 3 National Seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament after earning at-large bid, finishing second in the very competitive Pac-12 Conference. The UCLA Regional is paired with the Arizona Regional hosted by the University of Arizona, which features the host Wildcats, No. 2 seed Mississippi State, No. 3 seed North Dakota State, and No. 4 seed Saint Francis.
It will be the third consecutive year and sixth time overall the Titans play a regional at UCLA. The 2017 Fullerton went 2-2 in the regional, falling to San Jose State (3-0), defeating Lehigh 10-8), defeating San Jose State in a rematch (1-0), and then falling to host UCLA (9-1).
Texas State (42-12) makes its NCAA Tournament appearance after defeating the Ragin' Cajuns in the Sun Belt Championship to earn the automatic bid. The Bobcats went 3-1 in the conference the tournament and 18-5 in conference play.
Sacramento State (31-18) earned the Big Sky Conference automatic bid to the NCAA regionals by defeating Northern Colorado in the Big Sky Tournament on Saturday. The Hornets went 2-0 in the conference tournament and a perfect 14-7 in conference.
Fullerton will make its 28th NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018. It is the Titans third straight postseason berth.
Cal State Fullerton's all-time NCAA record is 73-60 (.548) including Regional (45-42, .517); Super Regional (0-2, .000) play and 16-10 (.615) in the Women's College World Series.
