FULLERTON, Calif. - Senior Bryanna Ybarra hit .750 over the weekend to fuel a conference sweep of Hawai'i, leading to her first career selection as Big West Softball Field Player of the Week.
Ybarra had six hits in eight at-bats as the catalyst to a Titan offense that outscored UH by a 21-6 margin for the series. She also had a double and two home runs to finish the week with a 1.625 slugging percentage. The third baseman contributed two hits in all three games.
In game one, Ybarra homered twice and finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBI in a 4-3 victory to open the series in Honolulu. Ybarra also crushed a two-run shot in the top of the second to trim Fullerton's deficit to 3-2. Her solo shot to left center in the sixth inning gave the Titans a 4-3 lead and completed a comeback from a 3-0 deficit.
She went 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 6-2 win in game two. Ybarra closed out the series going 2-for-2 with a single and a double in an 11-1 rout.
Since conference play stared, Ybarra has been arguably the hottest hitter in the Big West leading in average (.515), on-base percentage (.585), hits (17), and doubles (4). She also ranks second in slugging percentage (.909), RBI (11), and home runs (3).
