Titans Set for Midweek Double-Header

FULLERTON, Calif. – Fresh off a 2-2 weekend, Cal State Fullerton will play host to both Fairfield and Columbia for a midweek double-header on Tuesday.

The Titans are coming off a two-game Sunday outing where they walked off on San Diego State in the morning game and came up short against No. 16/19 Ohio State later in the afternoon. Prior to that, they were rained out on Saturday as Seattle showed up, but didn't get a chance to step on the field against Fullerton. Friday, the Titans had a huge bounce back performance shutting out Boston after falling apart in the sixth inning against San Jose State.

For the season, Fullerton is back at .500 currently sitting at 11 wins and 11 losses. They are batting .297, slugging .397 and sport a .384 team on-base percentage. In the circle, they have a 4.22 team ERA and have allowed opponents to hit .314 against them.

Individually, reigning Big West Field Player of the Week Deshea Hill has been absolutely on fire. Currently on a seven-game multi-hit streak, she has seen her jump up to .431 which ranks fourth highest in the conference. Despite a 1-7 performance on Sunday, Brooke Clemetson still ranks second on the team with a .354 average. She still ranks first on the team in runs (20) and stolen bases (17). Zoe Richard has had the other very hot bat in the Titan lineup leading the team in doubles (7), extra base hits (8), and tied with Hill for the team-lead in RBI (14).

In the circle, Sophie Frost has emerged as a dominant starter over the last two weeks. In her four starts, she is 4-0 with four complete games, two shutouts, and has only allowed four runs (2 earned) which is good for a 0.48 ERA. For the season, she is down to a team-leading 2.27 ERA ranking sixth in the Big West. The ace and workhorse of the staff continues to be freshman Taylor Dockins who is coming off her fifth complete game of the season. She leads the team with 53.1 innings currently sporting a 3.15 ERA on the season.

The Fairfield Stags are currently 5-8 for the season coming off a 1-3 weekend at the Tiger Clash in Maryland. They are hitting .206 as a team, slugging .309, and have a .288 team on-base percentage. In the circle, they have a team ERA of 5.79 and have allowed a .309 batting average against in 75 innings of work.

Fairfield's offense is led by Makenna DiGuilo who currently sits at a .348 average with three doubles and a triple. Her five runs, eight hits, .565 SLG%, and .400 OBP also lead the team. Courtney Hankins has the been the power source for the Stags so far this season leading the team with two home runs, seven RBI, and 14 total bases.

The ace of the Stag pitching staff is Destinee Pallotto. She has a 3.50 ERA in 36 innings of work, both of which lead the team. She has given up 20 hits, walked 15, while striking out 30. Lauryn Rhinehart has been the clear number two for Fairfield with a 4.71 ERA in 19.1 innings of work.

This will be the first time the Titans and Stags have faced each other in program history.

The Columbia Lions are 4-9 on the season after going 1-3 at the UC Riverside Classic this past weekend. They are hitting .261 as a team, slugging .395, and have a .344 team on-base percentage. In the circle, they have a 5.09 ERA in 88 innings pitched. They have allowed 113 hits and 49 walks while striking out 51.

The Columbia offense has two girls hitting above .400 with Taylor Troutt and Olivia Parker both at the .417 mark. Troutt's .667 slugging percentage also leads the team while her 24 total bases is tied for the team-lead. Maria Pagane has the pop of the lineup leading the way with three home runs and is tied for the RBI-lead at eight.

The pitching staff has two clear leading arms in Erin Gallo and Madison Canby. Of the two, Canby has the larger workload with 49 innings pitched sporting a 4.29 ERA. Gallo leads the two in ERA by a hair currently sitting at the 4.25 mark in 26.1 innings.

This will also be the first time the Titans and Lions face off in program history.

First pitch against Fairfield is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. weather permitting. Columbia will follow right after at 6:00 p.m.
