FULLERTON, Calif. – Freshman right-hander Taylor Dockins takes home her first career Big West Pitcher of the Week after three fantastic performances last week.
Dockins made history on Thursday as she held the San Diego Toreros hitless in an 8-0 victory. It's the 57tha no-hitter in program history and first since 2013. For the game, she only allowed three baserunners to reach throughout the contest. She recorded two strikeouts and walked only one as she cruised through the Torero lineup.
In her second start of the week, she went up against Mississippi State and won. The Bulldogs went in to the game with the best pitching staff in the nation and the freshman righty out-dueled the Hail State starter. Going the distance, Dockins surrendered just one run on just three hits. She also recorded a career-high eight strikeouts, seven of which were of the swing and miss variety.
The Corona native's third start of the week was against No. 19/19 Cal. While she may have been given the loss, Dockins was fantastic, throwing five innings and only allowing three runs to one of the best offenses in the country. She grinded through the first four innings, only allowing one unearned run to the Golden Bears and made one mistake pitch in the fifth before being pulled.
Her overall stat line for the week goes as follows:
2-1 record, 17 innings pitched, 10 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), 11 strikeouts, and just 3 walks. She sported a 1.24 ERA for the week.
