Titans Score in the Seventh, Walk Off on Rainbow Warriors to Finish Series

FULLERTON, Calif.- The Titans clinched the series with walk off wins in their doubleheader Saturday afternoon against the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors. Fullerton won the first game 4-3 and the second game 1-0 with an RBI single from Mikaela Francis in the bottom of the seventh inning.

With the pair of wins, the Titans are 25-19 overall and lead 8-3 in the Big West Conference. Hawai'i drops to 25-17 overall and 4-7 in the Big West.

Game One

In the first game of the day, pitcher Kelsey Kessler (14-6) took the win with zero hits and zero runs and one strikeout in one inning of work. Hawai'i's Dana Thomsen (7-6) earned the loss with pitching 3.1 innings with two earned runs on six hits and only one strikeout.

Ariana Williams went three for three at-bat and slammed a triple in the bottom of the seventh for two RBIs for the walk off win.

Action took place in the top of the fourth when the Rainbow Warriors homered. The Titans immediately answered back by putting on a show with two back to back home runs from Ariana Williams and Lexi Gonzalez to take the lead 2-1.

The Rainbow Warriors then tied the game in the fifth inning with a RBI single and then took the lead in the seventh with their second RBI single.

In the bottom of the seventh, pinch hitter Bryanna Ybarra and Delynn Rippy both singled to get on base. With two outs, Ariana Williams tripled for two RBI and sealed the win 4-3.

In the second game, starting pitcher Kelsey Kessler (15-6) took her second win of the day with zero runs on six hits and six strikeouts in seven innings of work. Brittany Hancock (16-9) received the loss with one earned run on eight hits and four strikeouts.

The Titans remained scoreless with the Rainbow Warriors throughout the entire game until the bottom of the seventh inning.

Shianne Brannan singled to get on base followed two more singles from Zoe Richard and Kylie Padilla. With only one out, Mikaela Francis came in as the pinch hitter and slammed a base hit to bring in Brannan for the Titans' walk off win.

The Titans finished the game with a 1-0 win for the series sweep and will play again on Saturday, April 29, for a doubleheader at Long Beach State starting at 1 p.m.
