A LOOK AT THE WEEK
The Cal State Fullerton softball team hits the road for the first time in 2016 as the Titans head to Santa Clara, Calif., for the Bronco Classic which will run from Friday, Feb. 19 - Sunday, Feb. 21.

During the three-day tournament, Cal State Fullerton will go up against host Santa Clara (Feb. 19 at 3:15 p.m., and Feb. 21 at 1:30 p.m.), Seattle (Feb. 20 a 10 a.m., and Feb. 21 at 11:15 a.m.) and Idaho State (Feb. 20 at 12:15 p.m.).

RECAPPING THE TITAN CLASSIC
Cal State Fullerton won the Titan Classic after going 4-1 with wins over all four opponents in UTSA, San Diego State, Canisius and Weber State. The Titans' only loss came at the hands of Weber State on Saturday evening, but Cal State Fullerton quickly got even with the Wildcats on Sunday with a 9-7 victory.

LAST TIME OUT
The Titan offense scored nine runs in the bottom of the first, while freshman right-handed pitcher Sydney Golden collected her third win in as many days and senior righty Jasmine Antunez earned the save to secure the victory for Cal State Fullerton as it successfully held off Weber State, 9-7.

The Titans came out swinging after collecting their only loss of the season to the Wildcats the night before. The hosts were determined to come away with a win as they sent 15 batters to the plate in the first inning.

On the day, Delynn Rippy went 3-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI, while Samantha Vandiver was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. They were the only Titans to record a multi-hit game.

The Titans finished the game with more runs than hits as they tallied seven hits in the contest, yet drew six walks.

Golden finished the game pitching 5.0 innings and allowing six runs (three of which were earned) on as many hits, while walking one and fanning four. 

Antunez pitched 2.0 innings in relief without allowing a run and gave up just two hits with four strikeouts to earn the save.

IN THE POLLS
The Santa Clara Bronco Classic includes four strong opponents, however neither Cal State Fullerton or its weekend counterparts are starting the season ranked in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches and ESPN.com/USA Softball Coaches polls.

On the year, the Titans will face several ranked opponents as they will face No. 5 Alabama, No. 7 UCLA, No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 10 Florida State, No. 12 Georgia and No. 22 Arizona State during a very competitive schedule.

GOIN' FOR 100
Head coach Kelly Ford has amassed 99 victories in her four years at Cal State Fullerton. This weekend at the Bronco Classic, she goes for win No. 100.

GOOD AS GOLD
In her collegiate debut, freshman right-hander Sydney Golden pitched in the Titans' season opener and tossed 3.0 innings of work, while allowing one run en route to collecting her first collegiate victory, 13-1 (5 innings) over UTSA. The Riverside, Calif., native came back the following day and hurled a complete-game shutout surrendering just one hit in 5.0 innings pitched, while striking out four. She collected her third victory in as many days with a 9-7 win over Weber State after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing three runs on six hits with four strikeouts. In her first weekend as a Titan, Golden went 3-0 with a 2.15 ERA with one complete game, one shutout and eight strikeouts in 13.0 innings pitched.

RIPPIN' THEM OFF
Junior Delynn Rippy has started out the season with heads up base running as she is 3-for-3 in stolen bases in just five games. Last year, Rippy finished the year 7-for-7 on the base paths in 52 games played.

BIG WEST PRESEASON POLL
When the Big West Conference Preseason Poll was released, Cal State Fullerton came away with second place after securing 52 points and one first-place vote. The Titans were picked to finish second behind Long Beach State which was predicted to win the league with 62 points and six first-place votes.

OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
The Titans were one of the most prolific offenses in the league a year ago as they ranked second in the Big West in runs (278), hits (465), doubles (71), triples (12), total bases (638), walks (170) and stolen bases (49).

Cal State Fullerton did not waste any time showing off their hot bats as they opened the 2016 season outscoring their opponents 21-5 on the first day of the season. 

RETURN OF THE ALL-AMERICAN
Missy Taukeiaho is coming off of her third straight All-American season. She was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Third Team and also landed on the All-West Region First Team for the second consecutive year. Finally, she was named to the All-Big West First Team for the second time in her career.

Most recently, Taukeiaho was selected as one of 50 student-athletes on the "Watch List" for the 2016 USA Collegiate Softball Player of the Year award. The is the second straight year she has been selected to the "Watch List"

ON DECK
Following the Santa Clara Bronco Classic, Cal State Fullerton heads to Palm Springs, Calif., to take part in the Mary Nutter Classic where the Titans will go up against Utah (Feb. 25), Georgia (Feb. 25), Oklahoma State (Feb. 26), BYU (Feb. 27) and New Mexico State (Feb. 27).
