FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton pitcher Jasmine Antunez and infielder Samantha Galarza will join the Argentina national team at World Cup of Softball X from June 29-July 5 in an eight-game schedule at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, Calif., hosted by Southern California ASA.
The national teams participating at the event include both the USA Softball Junior Women's and Women's National Teams while Argentina, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela round out the eight-team field.
Antunez appeared in 21 games (12 starts) for the Titans in 2015, recording 38 strikeouts in 63 and 2/3 innings. The right-hander tallied a pair of complete games. The native from Garden Grove, Calif. posted a 5-7 record with a 4.40 ERA. In 2013, Antunez was tabbed Big West Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year in a season highlighted by a no-hitter over UNLV on April 20.
In 2015, Galarza started all 56 games and batted at a .243 clip with 36 hits, 20 RBIs and seven doubles. Hailing from Moreno Valley, Calif., the second baseman collected 82 assists and 11 double plays in 123 putouts to post a .967 fielding percentage. Galarza concluded her final campaign as a Titan with a base-hit in seven out of the last 10 games as she will forgo her senior season of eligibility to graduate early.
