FULLERTON, Calif. – Missy Taukeiaho led the Cal State Fullerton (20-12) softball team with a combined four hits and seven RBIs to sweep a non-conference doubleheader against Buffalo (6-16), 8-0 in five innings in game one, followed by an 8-4 decision in the nightcap at Anderson Family Field on Tuesday.

Cal State Fullerton will close out its 13-game home stand with a doubleheader against CSU Bakersfield scheduled for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on March 25 at Anderson Family Field.

GAME ONE: (Five Innings) Cal State Fullerton 8, Buffalo 0

Cal State Fullerton starter Desiree Ybarra (9-6) continued her dominance in the circle from this past weekend, extending her scoreless inning streak to 18 and 1/3 frames after a five-inning 8-0 shutout of Buffalo. The left-hander scattered just two hits to the Bulls, while fanning two.

The Titans' offense erupted for a six-run second inning which was more than enough run support for Ybarra. The barrage began with a leadoff single down the right field line by senior Eliza Crawford. CSF junior Melissa Sechrest drew a walk, later followed by an RBI single from Samantha Galarza to bring Brooke Clemetson home who pinch ran for Crawford earlier in the frame.

The Fullerton outburst continued with a two-run double by Taukeiaho, bases loaded walk from Courtney Rodriguez, and finally a two-run single from Crawford on her second at-bat of the inning.

To complete the run-rule victory, CSF tacked on another pair of runs in the fifth with an RBI single from Courtney Rodriguez, followed by an error on the Bulls' shortstop on a Crawford ground ball to seal the game. Taukeiaho turned in a 2-for-3 performance, scoring twice and collecting two RBIs. Crawford (2-for-4) added another three RBIs among her two hits.

UB's Hayley Barrow (1-5) was tagged for eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits to take the loss. The right-hander issued five walks while striking out one.

GAME TWO: Cal State Fullerton 8, Buffalo 4

Taukeiaho continued her big night at the plate logging another 2-for-3 performance which included a crucial three-run homer en route to five RBIs.

With Cal State Fullerton holding a slight 2-1 edge over the Bulls after the fifth, the offense manufactured two three-run innings in the fourth and fifth frames off Buffalo starter Bobbi Langlois (3-7) to complete the sweep.

After the Titans extended their lead to 5-1 on a Taukeiaho sacrifice fly and a two-run single from Rodriguez, Buffalo mounted its own response in the top half of the fifth inning. UB's Leandra Jew led off the frame with a bunt single. A one-out RBI single from Alexis Curtiss, later followed by a two-run single off the bat of Lauren Gambone cut the Titans' lead back to 5-4.

The Fullerton offense had one more outburst in the fifth as pinch hitter Paige Kisling started things off by legging out an infield single. With one out, freshman Samantha Vandiver forced a throwing error by the Bulls' shortstop Danielle Lallos to setup Taukeiaho for her  three-run round-tripper to put the game out of reach.

Rodriguez (3-for-4) and Rippy (2-for-3) recorded multi-hit games while Vandiver (1-for-4) scored three times.

After notching a victory earlier in the afternoon, Ybarra continued to extend her scoreless inning streak to 20 and 2/3 frames after picking up her third save in two and 1/3 innings to close out the game. She gave up one hit, one walk and fanned one.

Christina Washington (10-3) garnered her team-high 10th victory of the season after tossing four and 2/3 innings, surrendering four runs on seven hits. The Inglewood, Calif. native issued two walks and captured one strikeout.

Langlois yielded eight runs on 11 hits over six innings of work. The Bulls' defense struggled in the field surrendering three crucial errors that led to three unearned runs.
