Softball’s Rodas to Compete at Incheon Asian Games for Philippines National Team

FULLERTON, Calif. – Prior to the start of Cal State Fullerton's softball fall schedule, sophomore Gabby Rodas will compete on the Philippines National Team at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea from Sept. 23-Oct. 1.

 

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) governs the 2014 Asian Games, officially known as the XVII Asiad, features 437 events in 36 sports. The Asian Games is one of the largest international sporting events in the world, covering the continent of 45 countries and 4.5 billion people.

 

Venues will be in and around Korea's port city and metropolitan area, Incheon. Some of the competition venues are located in neighboring cities such as Anyang, Bucheon, Goyang, and Suwon. Participants include 13,000 athletes and officials and 7,000 media from 45 National Olympic Committees.

 

Rodas appeared in 16 games for the Titans last season, logging one start in the outfield while collecting a stolen base, an RBI and a pair of runs scored. The native from Fullerton, Calif., recorded her first career hit in the Titan Classic Tournament against Canisius on Mar. 14 followed by her first career double versus DePaul on Mar. 15.
