Washington, Pa. – Former standout outfielder for Cal State Fullerton Ashley Carter has been inked to a professional softball contract to the Pennsylvania Rebellion the team announced on Tuesday.

The native from Fontana, Calif., made the team after participating in tryouts in February. Carter led the Titans with a team-high 26 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 2013. Starting all 56 games, she also chipped in 44 hits, two doubles and 13 RBI while notching a .259 batting average.

"Never give up on your dreams because anything is possible. Set out to achieve your goals because if you don't, then you will never know if you can achieve them or not," Carter said in being given the opportunity to compete in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) League. "I wanted to thank the PA Rebellion for giving me this opportunity and I can't wait to start playing ball with them. Never regret any moment and go out and do what you love. That is what I did."

The center fielder was able to mark 11 multiple-hit games to go along with three multiple-RBI games. The left-handed hitter finished her Titan career ranked fourth all-time in triples (9) and eighth in fielding percentage (.988).

"I'm so excited for her, she deserves this not only from her performance on the field, but she has embraced the desire that she's wanted it from day one. She wanted to continue her career after her senior year and I couldn't be more proud of her," said current Cal State Fullerton Head Coach Kelly Ford who coached Carter in 2013. "Ashley is a true example of what can happen when you dream big while working hard."

Before landing the contract with the Rebellion, Carter logged experience with the Newport Beach, Calif., based California A's, a competitive fastpitch softball travel team that was not too far from her collegiate days at Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, Calif.

In 2012, Carter was a member of a squad involved in the Women's Elite Fastpitch Canadian Cup, competing as an outfielder against national teams from the likes of Japan, Australia and Venezuela.

Carter will compete for the first time on her new ball club on Thursday, June 5^th at 7:05 p.m. at CONSOL Energy Park when the Rebellion open up the season against the USSSA Pride in Washington, Pa.
