FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton senior defender Jenae Gibbens has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Tuesday.

The San Diego native was one of 34 players named to the three-team honor roll, improving on her third-team Academic All-America honor from a season ago.

Gibbens, a marketing major at Cal State Fullerton, qualified for the honor after earning a spot on the All-District 8 First Team for the second consecutive season in October. She is one of only three honorees from District 8 to be named to the Academic All-American squad, joining Stanford's Allison Falk (second team) and Kira Maker (third team).

On the field, Gibbens was named to the All-Big West First Team for the second consecutive season after scoring three times (all game-winning goals) and assisting on seven others - a total that ranks second for a single-season in Cal State Fullerton history - to tie for the team lead in scoring with 13 points.

She is also one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for her contributions on and off the field (vote for Jenae by clicking here).
