No. 15 Cal State Fullerton Heads to No. 7 Virginia For Third-Round NCAA Match-Up

Nov. 14, 2005

FULLERTON, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, this weekend to take on No. 7-ranked Virginia in an NCAA Third Round Match-Up at Klockner Stadium on the campus of UVA.

The match is scheduled for Sunday afternoon (Nov. 20) at 1 p.m. (EST).

Cal State Fullerton, one of only two remaining No. 3 national seeds still alive in this year's tournament (California), defeated UNLV (1-0 in overtime) and No. 24 Southern California (3-1) in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament to move to 19-3 overall on the season and up its school-record winning streak to 11 consecutive matches. The Titans have not lost since a 1-0 own goal defeat to UC Riverside back on Oct. 2 in Riverside, Calif.

The victories for the Titans were the first in the postseason in the history of the program as they also became the first team from the Big West Conference to advance past the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Virginia, one of four No. 2 national seeds remaining in the 64-team draw, is 17-5-1 overall after finishing 8-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference for second place. The Cavaliers have won eight of their last 10 matches and reached the third round after defeating Liberty (4-0) and Tennessee (3-0) in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
