Cal State Fullerton to Host 2007 Big West Conference Women's Soccer Tournament

Nov. 4, 2007

FULLERTON, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team will host the 2007 Big West Conference women's soccer tournament for the second time in the last three seasons next Friday (Nov. 9) and Sunday (Nov. 11) at Titan Stadium.

Semifinal matches will be held on Friday evening at 5 and 7:30 p.m. with the championship match to be held on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

The Titans, the two-time defending conference tournament champions, finished atop the Big West standings with 18 points along with Long Beach State, but Fullerton earned the No. 1 seed and host role by virtue of its 1-0 victory over the 49ers back on Oct. 19 in Long Beach, Calif.

Cal Poly, which tied Cal State Northridge on Sunday in double overtime, and UC Irvine finished tied for third with 16 points, but the Mustangs will be the No. 3 seed after downing the Anteaters, 1-0, on Oct. 12.

The regular season title is Fullerton's fourth since 2001 and its second regular season crown in the last three years. The last time the Titans hosted the Big West Tournament was in 2005 en route to their first-ever tournament crown and an appearance in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

The winner of the Big West Conference Tournament earns the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. The entire NCAA field for 2007 will be announced on Monday (Nov. 12) on ESPNews.
