Krumpos, Alexander Added to Cal State Fullerton Staff

March 29, 2007

FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton announced Thursday that Jim Krumpos has been appointed head strength and conditioning coach and Scott Alexander has been hired as an assistant women's soccer coach for the Titans.

Krumpos joins the Titans after spending the last three-plus years as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at UNC Charlotte. He served as the head strength and conditioning coach for the baseball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's tennis teams as well as the 49ers' women's basketball and volleyball programs.

Prior to UNC Charlotte, Krumpos spent three years as an Intern/Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Arizona, serving as the head strength coach for baseball and both the men's and women's cross country teams while serving as an assistant strength coach with various other programs during his tenure with the Wildcats.

Krumpos graduated in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Arizona and completed his master's degree in liberal studies in 2006 from UNC Charlotte.

Alexander, a former letter winner for the Titans' men's soccer team from 1997-2000, has spent the better part of the last six seasons working with the Fullerton women's squad as a volunteer assistant, helping the Titans to at least a share of three Big West Conference titles and a pair of Big West Tournament crowns.

Working mainly with the Fullerton goalkeepers, he helped mold former Titan Karen Bardsley into one of the Big West's best goalkeepers as she was named the Big West Goalkeeper of the Year a record three times (2004-06) and earned Freshman All-America honors from Soccer Buzz in 2002.

In between his duties with the Titans, Alexander spent two years training with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer and played professionally with the USL's El Paso Patriots in 2003. In 2004, he was the varsity head coach at nearby El Modena HS in Orange, Calif., and is currently a staff coach with the Fullerton Rangers Youth Soccer Club.

During his playing days with the Titans, Alexander saw his best season as a junior when he was 12-5 in net with a 1.20 goals against average and five shutouts. He was also a three-year letter winner at Hemet HS in Hemet, Calif., earning league MVP, first-team all-league, and team MVP honors as a senior.

Alexander graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy.
