FULLERTON, CA - For the second time this season, Cal State Fullerton's Stacey Fox displayed her flair for the dramatic as the sophomore scored the game-winning goal with nine seconds remaining on Friday night to lift the host Titans to a 1-0 victory over UC Davis in front of 222 fans at Titan Stadium.

The victory lifted the Titans to 5-8-5 overall on the year and evened their Big West Conference record at 3-3-1. The Aggies fell to 6-9-1 overall (1-6 in conference play) extending its losing skid to five consecutive matches.

Junior Danielle Bitonti set up the final sequence by driving down the field and unleashing a curling shot aimed for the left side netting that was knocked away by UC Davis goalkeeper Sarah Peters. Junior Geminesse Martinez quickly moved to take the corner, sending the ball into the box where a sliding Fox left-footed the ball into the upper right corner for her team-best third tally of the season and the only goal of the match.

The Aggies' Katie Webb then had one final last-ditch attempt, sending a ball in from 45 yards out that was gobbled up easily by goalkeeper Jordan-Michelle Santos, securing the victory.

Earlier in the season, Fox brought the Titans back from a one-goal deficit against Washington on Sept. 27 with just eight seconds remaining in regulation, volleying home a pass from teammates Caitlin Mellano and Tanya Slusser to tie the score just 26 seconds after the Huskies took the lead.

Fullerton, which outshot UC Davis by a 12-10 count on the night, dodged a bullet in the first half when Marisa Boge looked like she put the Aggies on the board first, but her goal off the right post was disallowed as the referee whistled offsides.

Then, with 26 minutes remaining following a Fullerton foul just outside the penalty area, Webb sent a rocket that just missed clipping the cross bar, keeping the match scoreless.

Santos logged her third shutout of the season in net for the Titans, making five saves while earning her third win of the season. Peters was credited with six saves in the loss while a defender knocked another off the line on a header by Fox in the 23rd minute.

Fox led all players with four shots on the night - all on goal - while seven different Titans accounted for the final team total. Lisa Kemp and Rachel Kahn each had three shots to pace the Aggies.

Cal State Fullerton closes out the 2009 regular season on Sunday (Nov. 1) at 1 p.m. as the Titans welcome Pacific to Titan Stadium.
