Box Score

FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton freshman Erica Peschken scored twice, including her first career goal in the 76th minute, and junior Lauryn Welch added four points on the day to help lead the No. 21 Titans to a 4-1 non-conference victory over UC Davis on Sunday afternoon at Titan Stadium.

Fullerton's winning streak now stands at five games entering the final week of the regular season as the Titans improved to 13-3 overall on the season. The Aggies fell to 4-9-3 overall.

Fullerton got on the board quickly in the first half as senior Erin Shelton found the back of the net six minutes in. Redshirt junior Desiree Flint took the ball into the box on the right side and fed Welch who was marked closely.

Welch then touched the ball to the back left post where Shelton chipped it over the head of UC Davis goalkeeper Krystyn Lizak for the 1-0 lead.

The Aggies' Lindsey Raymond tallied the equalizer in the 19th minute, taking a pass through traffic from teammate Megan Wall, and firing to the left post past a diving Shayla Sabin to make it 1-1.

The Titans wasted no time in regaining their lead as Welch took a pass from senior Lisa Kosena and dribbled in one-on-one with Lizak in net. However, Lizak fell down trying to move laterally to her left, leaving the net wide open for Welch, who chipped it in for her fourth goal of the season and a 2-1 advantage.

The score remained that way well into the second half when Peschken added her first two career goals. The first came in the 76th minute on a rebound of a shot by Kellie Cox that hit the post and bounced right to Peschken, who tapped it in to make it 3-1.

Five minutes later, Peschken found herself in a foot race with a UC Davis defender off a long pass from Welch, beating Lizak one-on-one for the final tally of the match.

The Titans outshot the Aggies, 16-5, including a 5-2 margin in shots on goal. Shayla Sabin made one save in improving to 3-0 overall on the season in net.

Cal State Fullerton returns to the pitch on Friday night (Oct. 28) as the Titans host UC Irvine in the final home match of the season at 7 p.m. Fullerton's nine seniors will be feted in front of the home crowd prior to kickoff.
