FULLERTON, CA - Lindsay Bullock's team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 16th minute stood up as the only score of the match as visiting Long Beach State defeated Cal State Fullerton, 1-0, on Sunday night in front of 671 fans at Titan Stadium.

The Titans fell to 7-9-1 overall on the year and 2-4 in Big West play while the 49ers remained atop the Big West Conference with a 10-4-3 overall record and a 4-0-1 mark in league play.

Bullock settled the ball at the top of the box and flicked it on net with her toe right to Fullerton goalkeeper Shannon Simpson. However the ball spun through Simpson's arms and squirted through her legs into the left side of the goal for the only score of the game.

Freshman Janae Deas had a solid chance to tie the match in the 27th minute, but her header from five yards out off a free kick sailed just wide. Sophomore Christina Murillo unleashed a shot from 20 yards in the 58th minute that had Long Beach goalkeeper Liz Ramos diving to make a lead-saving stop.

Fullerton then turned up the intensity in the final 20 minutes, pressing for the equalizer, but coming up empty. Five of the Titans' seven second half shots came after the 73rd minute as Ramos turned two away and a long blast by senior Casey Schostag went high.

Ramos made three saves to preserve the shutout while Bullock and Hayley Bolt led the team with three shots apiece. Simpson also made three saves in net for Fullerton, which was led by Schostag's three shots on the night.

Cal State Fullerton closes out the home portion of its schedule next Sunday (Oct. 26) as the Titans host UC Riverside at 6 p.m. Fullerton seniors Tiffany Craig, Casey Schostag, and Jenae Gibbens will be honored for their contributions to the program prior to the match during "Senior Day" festivities.
