Box Score

SANTA BARBARA, CA - UC Santa Barbara's Kailyn Kugler scored the match's only goal in the 75th minute to help lift the host Gauchos to a 1-0 victory over visiting Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference women's soccer contest on Friday night at Harder Stadium.

The loss dropped the Titans to 3-6-3 overall and 1-1 in league play while UCSB improved to 5-7-1 and 2-1 in conference action.

Kugler's unassisted strike came with just over 15 minutes to play as her shot from 25 yards out looped over the head of Fullerton keeper Shannon Simpson, who was caught out of position and scrambling to get back into net.

It capped off a second half for the Gauchos, who outshot the Titans by a 7-2 margin in the second period after the two teams played relatively even through the first 45 minutes. UCSB held a 12-5 advantage in the shot column and had four corners to none for the Titans for the match.

Erin Ortega had four shots for the Gauchos to lead all players while Brisa Gonzalez had two shots to pace Fullerton.

Simpson made four saves in net for the Titans while Tammy Lenham had three stops in recording the shutout.

Cal State Fullerton closes out its trip to the coast on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 11) at 1 p.m. as the Titans take on Cal Poly, which shutout UC Riverside by the score of 2-0 on Friday, in San Luis Obispo.
