Titans Claim Third Straight Victory, 2-0, Over Lions

FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton seniors Kandace Wilson and Rebekah Patrick each scored second-half goals to lift the No. 25 Titans to a 2-0 victory over host Loyola Marymount on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles, Calif.

With its third consecutive victory, Fullerton improved to 7-2 overall on the season while LMU fell to 3-4-3 overall.

Wilson netted the game-winner in the 66th minute, taking a cross from junior Lauryn Welch from two yards out and putting it into the empty side of the net. Senior Erin Shelton also assisted on the play.

For Wilson, it was her team-leading fourth goal of the season and her second game-winner of the year.

Patrick added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute, netting her second goal of the year off a deflection to make it 2-0.

Sophomore Shayla Sabin earned her second victory and first shutout of the season in net, making four saves on the afternoon. LMU keeper Joslyn Slovek, who had a scoreless streak of 335:30 snapped with Wilson's goal, made 10 saves.

Cal State Fullerton outshot LMU, 19-7, including a 10-4 margin in the deciding second half.

The Titans return home for the first time in almost a month on Thursday (Sept. 29) with a non-conference match-up against Hawaii. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Titan Stadium.
